Mac Childs is a dynamic and talented musician born and bred in the heartland. A native of Kansas City and a guitar player for more than 20 years his style varies richly in passions, influences and approach. A graduate of the University of Missouri and the Conservatory of Music, he earned degrees in classical guitar performance and Spanish.

Having lived and studied for two years in the Spanish cities of Madrid and Granada, Andalucian sentimientos figure strongly in his musical conjurations. But the roots remain thoroughly planted in a Midwestern experience of life and the four seasons.

While a masterful classical soloist, he also finds the call to improvisation, songwriting and composition too strong to ignore. Kansas City swing blues and flamenco falsettas emerge in Duke Ellington, Django Reinhart, and Charlie Parker compositions with his highly popular Swing City Trio, Jake Wagner mandolin and James Isaac woodwinds. His work in the New String Duo with cellist Dana Woolard covers Renaissance, classical and contemporary repertoire with style and charm. His solo classical interpretations evoke grace and lucidity, his love and passion for the music flows from the heart through the hands and out the guitar.
